A cross-cultural drama about caste, race, prejudice, memory, and human dignity.

The Colour of Darkness is the first international feature film by GK Makwana Films.
Written, directed, produced, composed, and with lyrics by Girish K Makwana, the film brings together caste discrimination in India and racial discrimination in Australia, while also reflecting wider human patterns of prejudice, social hypocrisy, and discrimination.
At its heart, the film asks what happens when people carry old wounds into new worlds, and when prejudice is allowed to shape how we see one another.

Watch on NDTVSet across Indian and Australian experiences, the film explores the emotional and social distance between communities, families, and generations.
It reflects on India’s old caste system, racial discrimination in Australia, and broader questions of social hypocrisy, prejudice, belonging, grief, identity, and human dignity.
For GK Makwana Films, The Colour of Darkness was more than a first feature. It was a statement of purpose.
