SADHU — The Monk

A female-centric spiritual drama set between Australia and India.

Short Synopsis

A journey outward, and then inward.

SADHU follows Mira, a woman who travels to India not as a tourist, but as a seeker. On the outside, she appears to have everything going for her. Inside, she carries a silence, an emptiness, and a longing she cannot fully name.

India does not give Mira easy answers. Instead, it opens a world of friendship, desire, danger, love, spiritual questioning, and emotional awakening.

At its heart, SADHU explores the space between sensuality and spirituality — the human desire to fulfil longing, and the harder question of whether desire can ever truly be silenced.

Music & Songs

Music is central to the emotional world of SADHU.

Girish K Makwana is developing the film not only as writer-director and composer, but also as lyricist. The songs and musical atmosphere are intended to carry the inner life of the story — desire, longing, devotion, silence, and spiritual unrest.

The music will draw from Indian classical influence, cinematic composition, poetic expression, and cross-cultural sound.
