Before moving deeply into filmmaking, Girish K Makwana’s artistic life began with music — tabla, Indian classical training, rhythm, performance, composition, and collaboration.
For Girish, music is not only sound. It is memory, silence, breath, poetry, longing, and the emotional movement beneath a story.

Girish established Tihai3 with Sabyasachi Bhattacharya, a sarod player, and Nicolas Buff, a saxophone player with a background in jazz, Western music, and Indian classical music.
At its core, Tihai3 was built around three musicians performing mostly in a pure Hindustani classical style, bringing together tabla, sarod, and saxophone through rhythm, raga, improvisation, and musical dialogue.
Alongside its classical foundation, Tihai3 collaborated with different musicians and ensembles, including special collaborations connected with the Australian Army Band and the Preston Symphony Orchestra.
Girish composed the music and background score for The Colour of Darkness and wrote the lyrics for its songs. For SADHU, he is also developing the songs, lyrics, and musical atmosphere as part of the film’s inner world.
